Medfield St

Medfield Street Roehampton, they are going to shut to cars. Saw on FBook.

Alan - I rarely use it for that reason.I'm not sure how clear it is to vehicles turning into the High Street that it is two way for cycles.I tend to use Parkstead Road, Queen Mary's Hospital and Roehampton Lane, Clarence Lane which is far from ideal - especially turning right into Clarence Lane - which should be a right turn only lane but isn't.Wandsworth's roads are pretty crap. At least H&F are doing something for their residence.

I think this is the negative of the proposal. I don't like using the contraflow bike lane, it's dangerous. This will make it worse.

Ah that does make more sense, but I agree that it's going to result in more traffic on Roehampton High Street which is only one road over.

"Perhaps they decided not to use the H&F model?"Matt, it is not an option on the survey.I'm not saying they should or shouldn't but it should be considered.Why would the H&F scheme make sense in H&F but not make sense with regard to Medfield St? "a small change that won't cause many problems"It will put more traffic through Roehampton High Street which is two ways for cycling.

Read the plan, it's eastbound only. Westbound unaffected.  Eastbound must use High Street.

Big impact on Dover House Estate residents accessing the A3 with that solution. They would have to go to Tibbot's Corner, which adds a mile on to the journey. Also it would have an impact on Hungerford Motors. Their customers park on Medfield street and surrounding roads, and drop off their keys. The mechanics from Hungerford Motors pick up the car and drive it down to the garage when they have space, and they drive the car back when they are fixed.

Ivonne, It was on a Wandsworth Site and a petition. Still OK for Buses etc. appears they want to stop cars. Somebody on my FB shared it to me. I'll try and find it again.
