Ivonne, ironically there's also an evangelical chapel nearby in Elgin (the River Church) which was formerly a church hall of (I think) the St Giles CoE parish, not such a radical change of use. Now the last census indicates we're a secular country it seems better to reuse them for the benefit of the community? Speaking as an atheist a Tandoori restaurant seems a useful local facility but unfortunately we didn't have time to sample its wares this September - although as a vegan perhaps I'd prefer a south Indian veggie one :-) I can see not everyone would agree. Some churches have been repurposed as successful concert halls - St John's, Smith Square; the Cadogan Hall - and some churches that are still consecrated are regularly used for music and other events - St John's, Waterloo; St George's, Hanover Square, and not forgetting St Mary's in Putney! Music seems a suitable use for such buildings?A tricky subject!
