Not irrelevant to those families he lied about.Yes The fantasist Nick started it but it was Watson who gave the accusations legs and pressured the Police to act ( wrongly as it turns out). I really dont understand your whataboutery on this .

You have a problem with the english language. The claims were invented by some guy (called Nick?), not by Watson.You also fail to appreciate the context - the thread is about Johnson stuffing the HoL with dozens of underserving cronies (yes Johnson - the man who gave Gavin Williamson a knighthood). Watson's position is an irrelevance.

An apologist for Watson. It is widely accepted ( even he made  half arsed insincere apology ) that he used parliamentary privelege to make false claims again completely innocent individuals and pressured the Met Police to waste millions investigating his fantasies.

You are very confused over this. Watson did not invent the non-existent ring, neither did he use parliamentary privelege to invent it (however you think that might work). Watson did make a mistake - as did the many police investigating the matter.I think your problem is that you allow your partisan feelings to overrule your common sense.

There's been controversy over honours lists for decades. Many we're astounded by Harold Wilson's list in 1976:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976_Prime_Minister%27s_Resignation_HonoursTime to scrap the whole system and replace the House of Lords with a democratic alternative …

One wonders what Baroness Lawrence, Baroness Lane-Fox, Lord Sugar, Baron Clarke to name some members of the HoL with diverse views not necessarily in agreement with my own but who in different ways earned their peerage would think of Nadine Dorres joining them on the red benches?

Well, I think Tony Blair did not neither did Gordon Brown.Cameron revived the Resignation Honours List and Theresa May followed suit.I just hope that the House of Lords Appointments Committee reject BoJo's list.Can you imagine Nadine Dorries as a Lady???  Heaven's forbid!

It's becoming a farce, certainly time to abolish the House of Lords and replace it with an upper that's elected with PR, perhaps with the ability to co-opt experts in certain fields that are needed to scrutinise specific technical areas of legislation?
