Future travel plan

On the homepage and the Wandsworth Council newsletter both refer to "Introduce safer cycle routes in and around Putney High Street"No details provided.  Does anyone know what these proposals are?

A big announcement, but no detail available. Typical politicians! I agree about the high street being too narrow now to feel safe cycling on it. I raised this issue in the consultation when they proposed widening the pavements.  Bizarrely it was claimed that it would be safer for cycling because cars would be travelling slower! I wonder if the new proposal will seek to narrow pavements to put in a narrow cycle lane.

"Someone tried the known trick of locking their bike to mine last year and that was my first and only time using it so I speak from experience!"I accidentally did that to a friend's bike a couple of years ago. He eventually forgave me, but it was a close-run thing.

Oliver,I believe crime has a huge impact on cycling with many giving up have bicycle stolen multiple times.With high crime likely to stay I have come to the conclusion we need dockless community bicycles requiring just a small deposit.This will not only overcome the storage and security issue but makes green sense too as a lot of people will only make a couple of trips per day.

Just to agree with all you're saying, the high street is far too narrow to accommodate a cycle lane and also that the one rack next to the library that was added in a few years ago is just a graveyard for old bikes and A cycle theft hotspot without any CCTV for good measure.Someone tried the known trick of locking their bike to mine last year and that was my first and only time using it so I speak from experience!

I have no idea what these plans mean.  But, looking at other Labour Councils, it would not surprise me if LNTs are not brought back in.

Chelverton has loads of break in's in the last couple of weeks, from front gardens, cycles etc. Also somebody ringing your bell late at night not once but keeps coming back over a few days, asking for somebody. It's all been caught on front door video's.

Hi Alan,Here is the link I believe.I just skimmed it not sure it answers your questions. Just the one line that you quote.The high st is too narrow not sure what can be done with that. The bridge could do with cycle lanes both sides. I've no idea why they have a bus stop in the middle which blocks one lane going north.Looking at the bicycle racks theft is a big issue.
