Philippa Bond has suggested

Donate all the Energy rebate to people worse off, this is on HER Chiswick site. I wonder how much she has donated from her rebate. We would love too know. Or is she just good at telling everybody else what to do. After all the years most people have worked I think we deserve anything they give us.

Yes, there is and should be no geographical bar to previous residents participating in the forums; however, if they're open to some non local residents it's not then fair to try and exclude other individuals because one disagrees with them, is it? (After all, Michael Brown who, as far as I know, is not a Putney resident is tolerated on this forum by its owners even though many disagree with his opinions and other platforms might block him?)Obviously one's free to disagree with others opinions or challenge facts if one believes they are incorrect, but personally I don't believe blocking individuals will help. Others might disagree … :-)I caught a snippet about this on R4 recently. A new book by Matthew Syed on how to agree to disagree kindly and confidently... "Young people should be taught to challenge the argument and demolish it, not the person who’s arguing. We don’t all need to agree but surely we can disagree without becoming sworn enemies?" Michael,do you not think the people from Australia, might have lived in Putney at one time for years.  So like to keep in touch, like Andy. Not pulling up trees and cutting back and getting find £2500 or more, by listening to somebody from Chiswick or Oxford.

Yes, a great idea promoting giving to charity if one can afford it.Looking at the sign up process and code of conduct there don't appear to be any restrictions on how many forums (fora?) one can join or where one lives to participate in them (isn't there a participant in Australia?); one just has to "respect others" and "play nice". It's stretching my memory but some of the posts here remind me of taunts in a junior school playground:-)

That's a great idea Barbara. Thanks for raising awareness and making sure it's on this forum now too. Wandsworth Foodbank have 7 locations, including Putney & Roehampton. They have a JustGiving page asking people to donate their energy rebate/winter fuel allowance which will be converted to fuel vouchers and given to those in need. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/WarmerWinter

Because Philippa is also on Chiswick Forum. The reason I go on the other site is because we had our boat in Chiswick Quay Marina. Used to see what was was going on in Hartington Rd. As they had stopped traffic going down the road, to Kew Bridge and people would get fined. Also there had been a fire on one of the boats, anything else you would like me to explain.

I do live in Putney for 51 yrs, this is a Putney site. Not what happens in outer Mongolia. If you have a Conservation Area there are rules. So there.

I have merely drawn attention to what I consider a brilliant and timely ARTICLE on the FRONT PAGE of the Chiswick website where the Bedford Park Society have put together a list of local charities who would love to benefit from any donations that those who feel they are not in need of the blanket rebate could donate to for those less well off.It is something that other websites and groups could follow. Why don't you do one for Putney?
