IT and Tea - free tech support - Saturday 15th October

Our next free monthly IT and Tea session is this Saturday, at Putney Pantry, next to St Mary's church, between 11am and 1pm. It's an informal chance to ask any questions about technology, whether it's mobile phones, PCs, tablets, broadband and phone contracts, smart devices such as Amazon Alexa and so on.Beginners and first-timers welcome. Apologies, Mark, I was being a bit flippant, I didn't mean to detract from the great work you're doing with your sessions. I remember in the early days of Windows someone saying Windows is "intuitively obvious"; perhaps to the MS development team? :-)It's interesting that if you're a corporate IT user you can pay for staff to go on a four figure course - and you get the documentation to take away! If you're Joe or Josephine public you get a one or two page easy start crib sheet and then you're on your own ...

Manufacturers think that their devices are so simple these days you don't need instructions. However, some of the basics are really important to know. Even on an iPhone or iPad!For example, an hour spent learning what File Explorer does in Windows, and how it does it, is time well spent.Thanks to everyone that came along on Saturday. I'll be back next month on the 3rd Saturday of the month, between 11am and 1pm. I think this is a brilliant initiative.  There are supposed to  be so many electronic gadgets that aren't working and researching and learning to use newer technology of the same kind can be a nightmare and if you cannot see to read any instructions that makes it even more difficult!
