air fryers

Yesterday's Observer ran an article by Jay Rayner on this very subject and he was not at all impressed, and will not buy one.  The timings are not accurate, and anything he cooked in the fryer was totally unsatisfactory.

I read the article too. I have had an Actifry for a few years now and really like it. People often just think these are for chips which would make it an extremely expensive gadget if that was your main purpose. I cook meat and curries in mine too.  However I’m with Jay that you can’t beat a proper fried chip.

My wife is a keen cook and is reluctant to buy most gadgets, even less to give them worktop space, but she is very impressed with the air fryer she got from Lidl.Just like the microwave, there are a few things it is brilliant for, and reheating baked food and restoring it 'like new' is one of them.It is excellent for oven chips - they come out lovely and crispy, without having to heat up the whole main oven.

I suspect it depends on the air fryer. I didn't read the article but thanks for pointing as I will check it now (just after spending most of the afternoon researching then buying one)!!
