Charlwood  Rd

Just wondered if anybody had heard whether they were still going to shut Charlwood Rd, from 7 am to 10 am. Only there hasn't been any traffic jams that I know of lately.

Traffic has been light everywhere in London from my experience in the last few weeks as it’s the school holidays. Traffic jams only seem to happen when there’s congestion on URR and people’s Sat Nav’s start directing them down the side streets.

Coming from Upper Richmond Rd, no left turn into Charlwood Rd, this would stop traffic jams in Chelverton, as cars coming from URR were taking a short cut in the morning. Chelverton Road had been at a standstill. Everybody tooting their horns music blaring and residents couldn't get out into the High Street.  But no traffic jams as far as I know for a while.

Richard, you are out of touch, sorry to say nothing to do with the schools. This is 7 am to 10 am just like Dryburgh Rd. residents had done a petition to stop cars coming into Chelverton Road, as traffic jams in the morning. But it had to be authorized by TFL first. But at the moment no traffic jams. There had also been a problem with traffic lights High Street end of Chelverton as they were only letting one car or two out at a time.

I don't know, but I'm guessing that this is a characteristically garbled reference to the proposal, which the previous Wandsworth administration chickened out of, to extend the existing school street in Charlwood Road northwards from the current end at the junction with Hotham Road to that at Felsham Road so that it could incorporate St Mary's CofE school. Has that proposal been revived?Incidentally, they are usually from 8:30 to 9:15 am (not 7 to 10) and 2:30 to 3:15 pm. And it's nothing at all to do with imaginary "traffic jams."
