Old Maplin Shop

I asked one of the men working in there, what was the shop going to be next. He said Ann Summers, then laughed and said a Chicken Shop, so is this more food. What about clothes?

Gosh, I had to think hard because it was Trespass after it was Maplins!! Yes, it's going to be Chik'n, which is supposedly a sort of Nando's type restaurant, rather than a fast food one. (I think we have the delight of a Thunderbird Chicken opening sometime up where the old Subway was). Chik'n has approval to open late, and they do sell craft beer, but no selling of alcohol off premises, or without food. Seems like there are few other options these days. Jaki for clothes for women does seem very popular.

Yes Carl, I agree I don't like ordering online, need to try them on shoes and clothes, depending where they are made, the sizes could be completely different.

Yes, I laughed when he said Ann Summers. To many eye's might pop out in the High Street. Need a clothes shop like BHS, could always find jeans or a top, now nothing. T K Maxx is a jumble, hard trying to find anything in there. Also H & M quality not great.

I'd like to see more clothes shops back on the high street. I hate the process of ordering online, trying on at home, and then having to return what doesn't fit. Debenhams in Wandsworth was ideal, as you had access to lots of brands, and a changing room. Online shops are already making noise about charging for returns — https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62140633 Although with winter only a few months away, and the increased heating costs, I'd probably need something a bit warmer than clothes from Ann Summers.
