St George's Hospital

If anyone has an appointment there, may I suggest you don't drive yourself there - the parking, even for blue badge holders, is a complete nightmare now. There used to be a lot more disabled bays near A&E, and they are now all ambulance bays, as well as building work on various sites which has lost more parking bays. People were driving round and round yesterday trying to find somewhere to park, and they were getting very agitated as appointment times came and went. The staff acknowledged that it's a big issue now, and suggest either going by bus, or getting a friend/family member to drop you off, or getting a taxi.

Yes there is parking available outside IF you can find a space!  Are you saying that all other hospitals are inferior to St George's? It allegedly has a superb heart treatment facility but I will tell you a true story about an horrific event that a very close friend experienced there 9 years ago.  He was transferred to SG from his local hospital when it was established that needed to have an urgent quadruple heart bypass to potentially save his life.  The operation was done and he was put into ICU afterwards which is routine procedure after such a serious op. I have no idea what the time frame should be but he was discharged after only 3 days and taken back to his home.  That night he collapsed and his wife obviously called an ambulance which took him to his local hospital where he was admitted again and spent two weeks in critical care there. It was touch and go whether he survived. His original Consultant at the hospital was horrified that SG had discharged him so quickly, and so was I.  Now I am not a fan of litigation but in my opinion my friend should have sued SG for negligence but he just wanted to put the experience behind him.

I can recommend parking in Effort Street. I always head there when I have to drive to an appointment at St. Georges..

It doesn't take a genius to work out where to park just outside the gates!  Doesn't cost any more than inside.You have to go to George's if you want your problem properly resolved Sue.  Once seen there, subsequent treatments will always be offered at a centre closer to where you live

The hospital site has been a nightmare for years where parking is concerned.  To be honest I do not like the hospital anyway and always choose KH or QMH when an alternative is offered.
