Great final speech!👏🏻How boring PMQs will be now without Boris.🥱His colleagues have made a huge mistake in booting him out and they will realise this more and more the nearer it gets to the next GE. The relentless witch hunt by the largely left MSM has been disgusting, so who will they target next? His dig at Twitter was well said. However imo Boris will be back by popular demand from the Conservative electorate.  I will not be putting my cross against either of the final 2 candidates and I think there will be many more who feel the same way.

If the privileges committee decide Johnson lied to Parliament then his position as an MP could be withdrawn using the Recall Act if 10% of his constituency voters petition for it. Assuming he was reselected as the Conservative candidate he'd then face a byelection. Perhaps a reasonable chance the seat could go to the LibDems? Ivonne. It seems that one should treat Johnson's claims of success with some scepticism. As you say, there's many uncompleted aspects of Brexit, including the major one of the NI border; however, some believe unemployment figures hide the face that may freelance workers are unemployed - or at least not in full time employment (and ice seen LinkedIn threads that are very anti Sunak because of the way many freelancers were excluded from his Covid aid), and it looks like Johnson's Covid claims may be on shaky grounds given the UK's total number of deaths, plus the economy looks in bad shape (even some of his own cabinet ministers are saying that).

Ivonne , unfortunately I agree with a lot of what you’ve said. I am a big Bozzie Bear fan having met him in person on a few occasions and enjoyed his character.

@Richard 17.51Cummings is loathsome but also very shrewd so I do not dismiss what he says.  From comments I have seen on various Tory forums it is clear that many supporters despise Sunak because his resignation was the catalyst that turned the tide and ultimately led to Boris standing down. Also the fact that Sunak has obviously been planning this for some time (his video wasn't knocked up overnight) shows him to be as much of a back-stabbing snake as Gove.  I do not have an opinion about Truss' state of mind but I am pretty sure that as PM she would have little chance of winning a GE.  Boris is the greatest campaigner of all and there is nobody in the Party who comes anywhere near.  Don't write him off Richard.😉

"Characteristic" - yes very. He carried on lying right to the end and spent an entire PMQ session not really answering a single one of the questions put to him.

According to Dominic Cummings in his blog (I know, I know, hardly the most reliable of sources), Johnson "is supporting Truss. Why? 1) He thinks it's the best way to stop Sunak. 2) He knows Truss is mad as a box of snakes and is thinking, 'there's a chance she blows, there's another contest and I can return'."If Johnson really thinks he can make a comeback, he's completely and utterly deluded.

Sue, I know you like BoJo a lot, but I thought his goodbye speech was, putting it politely, characteristic of him.He has not "done Brexit" by any stretch of the imagination - so many loose ends that it is mindboggling.Success with COVID?  In part, but it was mostly thanks to the NHS, the doctors, the nurses and certainly not politicians.Most people employed?  It is a bit of a double whammy here.  Yes, there are more people employed but on very basic income and require universal credit and food banks... Is this a success?  While you say that traitors stabbed him in the back, I would suggest he shot himself in foot for lying, his parties - I will not go on.Had he had a greater sense of responsibility, integrity and honesty, I am sure the outcome would have been different.  But a leopard does not change its spots!  Neither does BoJo.Hand in heart, I do not think the electorate will demand his return, just as it did no demand Maggie's return.As for the two possible candidates, I wait with dread who they may be.

Johnson lied, partied whist people died, traduced our democracy and more besides - good riddance say I and I can only hope the deluded ignoramuses who voted him into office come to realise the error of their ways.
