What a great place to work, Sean. I had the opportunity to visit the RAS and Linnean Society a few months ago although I had visited the RAS previously when the BAA held their meetings there. Yes, I'm aware of the issues as the BAA decided it was uneconomic to remain there and have now moved out. It just demonstrates how little the government cares or understands about science and the value in it. One only has to look at Brexit and the almost certain loss of the Horizon programme - it's not just about investment it's the collaboration that's also vital. A good example of that is astronomy where professionals rely on amateurs to supplement observational data! Or the JWST which is a joint venture between NASA, ESA and CSA - and it was launched on an Ariane launch vehicle.
