In Residence

One of the ivy montages in the doorway of M&S - the one which had been dead for some time - was recently removed and then replaced with attractive plants in oblong planters. During the transformation a Putney resident that I know observed the removal of a suitcase and other belongings in bags from the space behind the ivy. This had clearly been somebody's home. When they arrived or how long they had lived in this space I have no idea. Likewise, what became of the items left behind is anyone's guess. This afternoon I noticed some flattened cardboard boxes with barriers and plastic cones around them on the pavement outside M&S which is all that is left of this innovative residency...Meanwhile a stones throw from where I live offers are invited on a very attractive and spacious semi detached period property. The price is in excess of four million pounds.

Managed to catch street rubbish removal vehicle early this morning, and he has taken away all the cardboard  just left on the pavement. by Meristem. I moved the ugly barriers left flat on the pavement by Meristem into the adjacent side passage  There is still some rubbish behind the new planters, but doesn't look fresh, so am hoping whoever was sleeping there has been rehoused or under care of Streetlink charity, but  it doesn't explain the suitcase...it is tragic that this situation has arisen, Meristem had been there sometime before I arrived, so please contact them if you have any queries. Also, I wish they had put a replacement bank of live ivy, people will soon be sitting on the plants, and it now looks odd.
