On one level the whole thing is ludicrous and perhaps seems farcical: did the Mail invent the story as a distraction from partygate, but perhaps some Tories are still rooted in the early 20th C, 29th C misogyny and sexism (take note, Mr Rolick) andn rue the day we had universal suffrage and women MPs? So on a more serious note perhaps the problem with our society is these ingrained prejudices? Not just these but also racism and elitism which still exist, certainly in parts of business

Tbh I don't really care one way or another about it Richard but all this faux outrage over nothing is ridiculous and Parliament should be focusing on real concerns.  There are much more important things to get bothered about.

@PhillipaYes and that table has the two large despatch boxes on it.  Rayner was sitting directly behind the one on her side and having watched the video clip I can't see how Boris could have seen up her skirt even if he wanted to because the Labour despatch box would have obscured his view. Let's get real, Rayner is no shrinking violet and this allegation will not have traumatised her🙄in fact she and her Labour cohorts are now milking this for all its worth to try and gain some political points. This is the first, and probably the only time, Rayner will ever be likened to Sharon Stone so she's probably enjoying every minute of it.😸

It's a fair point Tim which is why I did not single out a particular party.All the major parties seemed to have had recent sexual harassment scandals for example which they tried in various ways to suppress rather than protect the victim.But on the leadership it was only last year that Starmer tried to sack her from what I recall. That didn't go well for him 🤣

I'm sure Ms Rayner understands the poor peoples hardship She ought to on a salary of £82,000 and expenses claims in excess of £200,000 and donations of about the same amount. All in it together?

The one time I saw Rayner sparring with Johnson at PMQ I thought she acquitted herself really well, no need for gimmicks as the Daily Mail has claimed based on an anonymous MP's slur. Just an excuse for poor performance - perhaps from too much partying? Given her climbing through the ranks to attain her current position rather than the elitist path of Johnson via Eton and Oxford, I think she has a better understanding of the hardships many face than Johnson or wealthy ministers like Sunak and Rees-Mogg. They may care about the underprivileged - after they bleat on about levelling up because they want more votes - but they don't understand the poverty in the same way as someone like Rayner who has seen it first hand.
