No water?

If your water was cut off around 10pm tonight then please do log a complaint with Thames Water. I did. It's just not good enough to do this without prior notice.

It's very hard to find any info on roadworks, utility interruptions etc.Thames water was privatised 30 years ago is it that difficult to publish such information?They could at least give the option on holding an email/telephone number to inform customers impacted by any work. When I was a child my mother always had a pan of water on the stove (not being heated) because of memories of water being cut off during the war.  I did the same when I lived in New York because of the frequent "water main break" warnings on local radio and TV.

Thats progress you can now call a help line or look up on line, then the people  who would previously have delivered the letters can get on with fixing the problem swifter

The only works I can see relatedly nearby are by the small roundabout just past the Oasis school. Lights and barriers. It’s been there for a few days. So I suspect they knew there would be a stoppage and could have warned us …

For Andy - I'm old enough to remember the days when Thames Water would knock on the door, or put a note through the letter box to say the water supply would be cut between xxpm and xxpm.I was half way through cleaning my teeth when the water dried up and as a result oh so very irritated!

One wonders how a major leak or burst gives us the advance notice that Katrina seeks.

Katrina, yes my mains water has stopped too, also around 10pm. I’m in Commondale SW15. The Thames Water emergency line says “there is a major leak in the area” and that they are working on a repair. They expect to restore the water by “2-o-clock”. No indication as to whether this is am or pm. Fairly typical Thames Water service.Nick
