Avoiding the rush hour crush, Holborn Circus: "Mr de Beer" arriving https://flic.kr/p/vht4zB

Yes, I remember it well. My train to Waterloo was one of the last to pass by the crash site with the burning helicopter a few minutes after it happened; it was very close to the lines into Waterloo. If one looks towards Battersea from Wandsworth Park there still seems to be frequent flights from Battersea.

Oooops!!! I thought it was "To the Manor Born" Mr de Beer, not the actual de Beer family. Sorry!Do you remember by any chance the accident involving a helicopter and the round tall tower built by Vauxhall Bridge? Bits of the helicopter flew along Wandsworth Road and another I cannot remember.Departures from Battersea helipad and their return are (were?) constant and they used to (because I am not there anymore) fly past my office by Lambeth Palace and the noise was quite something!

Ivonne, I think the de Beers helipad is the only private one remaining in Central London near the City now Maxwell's Mirror has been demolished and the Sainsbury's HQ built on Holborn Circus? (The air ambulance and police I'm sure have sites as well.) Al Fayed never got anywhere with his Harrods one: too dangerous in Knightsbridge - and image the NIMBYism in that location! There seems to be one on the Isle of Dogs for Canary Wharf as well as the main London heliport in Battersea. Further out I think there are sites that can be used for places like Twickenham and Wembley. The only 'copter flight I ever got in the UK was out to a North Sea oil platform!
Ha ha!! Yes, I remember that! But there are so many people using helicopters to go into town.... Al-Fayed is (was?) one of them.
