wikipedia

Had always understood Wikipedia to be an unbiased, non political dictionary/encyclopaedia How naive of me.. I recently learnt that they had removed /cancelled the page of journalist Peter Hitchen as they did not agree with his views Does that mean they support Hitler, Stalin etc?I have financially annually supported Wikipedia for some years but will no longer do so as they have offended me deeply

Thank you so much for clarifying the situation  I was feeling really bad that someone I trusted implicitly had given me wrong information I suppose it's getting older that muddles my understanding of what people say  This is why I like hard copy written facts  Still not necessarily true though  Opinion can alter understanding of facts

David,Perhaps the source exaggerated but his 2019 MoS Syria/OPCW articles resulted in him being targeted and a lot of references to his article in his wiki page were removed.There are a fair number of articles on this wiki targeted editing including one by the BBC. Although such procedures are normally reserved for the Labour anti-war campaigners it would seem and Hitchens is of course a right wing conservative.Far to say that Starmer is nolonger on that list:https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/feb/11/keir-starmer-nato-labour-anti-warWiki may be free but the search for truth has a cost. We are lucky that Hitchen will take on an unpopular story. Truth is more important than policy and political parties IMO.

The Peter Hitchens page remains on Wikipedia. You can check its history for changes, I believe. Where did you get the information about his cancellation? How do Hitler and Stalin come into this business?

I can still see Peter Hitchen's page but apparently there was a purge of his articles a couple of years back.He also used to be a wiki editor?https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/war-of-words-16-august-2018I follow him, but do not agree with all his opinions, (there is no point just following people you agree with IMO), but he does tend to question and try and get to the facts. This I guess has put him on the wrong side of those responsible for US/UK recent foreign policy.One of the few journalist in the UK with some independent thought sadly.
