Three sackings and a resignation

The latest drama from 10 Downing Street does rather bring to mind Jeremy Thorpe's biblical comment on Macmillan's Night of the Long Knives, when he sacked a third of his cabinet, that:"Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his friends for his life."The beginning of the end for chancer Johnson? Or is it only the end of the beginning?

Agreed, Ivonne. Johnson has told so many lies who knows what to believe when he says something.

It looks like Murina's and Narozaniski's resignations were not part of Johnson's plan; they've just had enough of his blundering style? The other three probably decided to choose their own timings if they were going to be made scapegoats for Johnson's poor leadership? But who knows what political mess there is in Downing St with Johnson trying to cling onto his position. Sunak seems to be keeping his distance from his neighbour. One wonders what he overhears from his neighbours :-)

Did they go or were they pushed? "Resigned" in this context incorporates genuine resignations as well as sackings. The Times reports today that energy minister Greg Hands"...insisted that Johnson was 'taking charge' of his No 10 operation after the revelations about Downing Street parties. 'Resignations have been made, resignations have been accepted,' he told Sky News. 'The prime minister was absolutely clear on Monday that there would be changes at the top of No 10 and that is what he has delivered'."

I'm getting bored waiting for tory MPs to grow a spine and do the right thing. But then they *are* tories, so I shouldn't expect too much of them.
