Forthcoming Local Elections

I read in the press that many Tories will wait and see wht happens in the local elections in May before finally agreeing that Boris has to go.This seems to me to miss the point. He has to go because he is an untrustworthy liar who is a disgrace to the country and to the office of Prime Minister. This is true now. It doesn't require electoral embarassment to validate it. It's bleeding obvious! He has presided over, participated in and encouraged a culture which saw his staff partying, hypocritically law-breaking whilst our dear Queen had to mourn alone.The option is open to the Chairs of the local Conservative Associations and to each and every Conservative candidate in the forthcoming elections to formally and publicly declare NOW that they think Johnson should resign - some have already done so (in Sutton Coldfield for example).When they come canvassing, ask them if they have done this and ask them when this happened. They will no doubt threaten you with fortnightly refuse collections. Ask them the same question again. What do they stand for?

Three seats lost and that's their majority gone. They haven't much of a chance to be honest, but the Johnson factor can turn a minor defeat for them into a rout. If they stand by him it's what they deserve.

Fewer votes does not necessarily mean fewer seats.It depends where those votes flow to.I suspect Greens and Liberals will make some gains as will Labour and other parties.If Labour make big gains then it is curtains.

I think you're pretty much right. It's a conclusion that some may take a few weeks to reach though. That's if one makes a decison on the basis of vote-winning potential. Quite a few of us are beyond that now.There are many people who have continued to support the Conservatives in Wandsworth local elections whilst not always being too impressed by the goings on in the national party. They deserve some clarity. What does the local party stand for?

If they keep Johnson, they must know that they will get fewer votes than they will get if they replace him. If they replace him the Johnson loyalists will be disgruntled, but who else would/could these loyalists vote for than the Tories?Yes, I know, but I gotta be right some time. And that is how it appears to me currently.
