London's ULEZ vs Oxford's zero emissions zone
TFL's ULEZ apparently cost £100m with improvements in air quality being minimal and lower than expected and revenues will it even recoup it's costs?I could never see how the charging model would deliver especially with people believing their own propaganda that ULEZ compliant is the same as clean. It also meant some gas guzzlers were free while those with moderate but old cars had to pay.I think the worse thing is it has locked us into the current charging model for the rest of the Mayor's term.Oxford are going to introduce a zero emissions zone where all other vehicles (there are exemptions that make sense) will pay a charge that goes up according to emissions:£2 for 4 wheel 75g/km or less£2 for 2 wheel greater than 0g/kg£4 four or more wheels that meet the Euro 4/IV petrol or Euro 6/VI diesel standard.£10 everything else.I'm not suggesting the Oxford price structure is correct. The point is we could of had a more incremental structure in London!https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/oxford-zero-emission-zone-zez/charges-oxfords-zez
