Alexander. Of course you're entitled to your opinion as we all have our own tastes. Gaby's closed after he retired and his nephew who helped him in later years decided it was not viable to continue as there was too much competition from fast food chains - so it wasn't involuntarily "shut down", like it's owner it came to a natural retirement: changing times, economics and taste rather than quality. Many people other than Corbyn - actors, celebrities, politicians, etc - frequented the Deli over its 53 years. In 2011 when Gascoyne Holdings threatened not to extend Gaby's lease Boris Johnson as well as Jeremy Corbyn joined the campaign to save Gaby's (although I think it might have been financial problems hitting the redevelopment plans for the site that saved it in the end). Still, not many times Jeremy and Boris were campaigning on the same side?I'd note that Gaby's served a range of dishes: many were delighted by their salt beef but obviously not one for the vegans; however, there were many salads and veggies dishes that could accompany ones felafel and hummus. Perhaps my photo doesn't do the dish justice - food photography is a specialist art; most food isn't that photogenic and what one sees in magazines, books etc often doesn't resemble the original subject matter that closely :-) Still, it's the taste not the look that's important! (Interesting, many think veggies should miss bacon but when I noted on Facebook that I had no desire to eat greasy, salty, fatty burnt flesh many agreed that it wasn't bacon but felafel would be the one food they would miss if it was unavailable.)Anyway, feel free to eat your fast food selection of highly processed burgers, chicken pieces, kebas, etc if you prefer - although many of those look revolting to me in "the flesh" (as one might say) before being photographed! But you won't be offered a free chilled bottle of retsina wine that someone who obviously didn't know what they had ordered (probably because they'd never been to Greece?) at you fast food restaurant - and I have had some great Lebanese red wine at Gaby's :-)As they say, it's a free country so you're not yet forced to eat felafel and hummus :-)
