Thanks, Ivonne, that fixes the Windows problems. I have posted the following explanation a couple of times as it appears to be an incompatibility between the old text base forum interface and Flickr that seems to cause Flickr to reject the links. Perhaps my explanation (below) is to confusing?------------—I usually post the Flickr links from the Forum's new GUI interface as that lets me embed active hyperlinks; the new site address is: new.putneysw15.com/#forum Clicking on the links in the new interface seems to work OK but using the old text interface it seems to go to the Flickr site but fails to find the specified image. As well as working correctly in the new Forum site the Flickr links also seems to work correctly when embedded in other applications such as email, WhatsApp, FB Messenger, Google notes, etc so I assume this is some quirk of the old, text based, forum site. I did some testing a while ago and as far as I know if one copies the link and posts it into a browser address bar it also works correctly. If using the old forum site then, in Windows, if you right click on the link and select to open in another tab or window it seems to work correctly; similarly, in Android and IOS if one presses on the link and waits for a menu to appear there's also an option to open in another tab.

Hello Carole,You need to right-click on the link and open it in another window.  The link does not work on the PutneySW15 website/forum.  Hence opening in a new window should work.

Thanks, Ivonne, and, Ed; the person holding the cat in the picture was my late father. He was captured on Crete when it surrendered to the German army and spent the rest of the war in a POW work camp in Silesia until 1945. That was after being orphaned in the 1918 flu pandemic and spending his childhood in children's homes. Still, he got a cruise c/o the British army - visiting South Africa (I think they must have had a stop off for provisions), Egypt and then Crete; as a motorcycle despatch rider he got to do some exploring, with an unauthorised trip to the pyramids (not many tourists in those days), and travelling between UK and ANZAC units in Crete. (My first visit to Crete was with my parents as, before he was captured, he enjoyed his time there and wanted to visit again; I think he was a bit disappointed with the tourist developments.) Things looked up for him when he met my mother after the war and, as you say Ed, living standards improved in many ways.

I like the last one best.Not only did they fight a war but they rebuilt the country better: NHS, education, housing - remarkable achievements.The very best gifts.
