NHS Crisis

A mother forced to give birth at home, feared she would die. Cutting a long story short, her husband was only 25, there was a lack of midwives, also the  hospital delivery suite was closed. So the only help  they had was to talk to somebody on 999. We know people give birth in cars on their way to Hospital, but the young lady had had trouble with her first birth. Is what is going on really as bad as what we are told. This was Peterborough Hospital.

The NHS has been underfunded for years and has fewer beds than hospitals in most countries in Europe.  No surprise then that when there is a crisis that any problems there are already are multiplied.  There have been huge shortages in staff for as long as I can remember and when there is a crisis like there is now overworked staff may lose their enthusiasm when they feel that they cannot perform to the best of their abilities.  Staff shortages lead to overworked staff.  When there is a shortage of beds to start off with and then there are no OTs to check suitability of patients homes for returning to and no-one to work out care plans and no carers to look after those being discharged from hospital, the system can come to a halt. https://fullfact.org/health/

You'd need to talk to Insulate Britain about that Andy, oh you can't coz they've been banged up.I'm afraid your beloved Tories have (as expected) been underfunding the NHS for years, hence its in crisis - that's the reason my mate was stuck in an ambulance.

9 hours waiting after being stuck for hours behind pratt's who glued themselves to the highway ??Cant have it both ways Matt. Perhaps tell your pals in XR how awful it is being stuck in an ambulance when unwell.

If one looks at waiting lists for relatively simple operations such as cataracts the NHS has been underperforming for several years before the extreme crisis that we now have. I know several people who recently have felt forced to have operations privately because they have conditions that while not life threatening they affect significantly their quality of life. Rationing by attrition?

The NHS has been in crisis for months, I know of someone who was stuck in an ambulance outside a hospital, waiting to be admitted for 9 hours. This was 2 months ago, god only knows what's like now.And of course it meant that the ambulance they were in couldnt go out on other jobs until my friend had been handed over.
