Townmead Road recycling centre

I predict that there will be an increase in rubbish being dumped.  In the past I have been asked by neighbours to take car loads of stuff to the tip.  At these times I have also collected rubbish which has been dumped, eg alongside the railway line.   I have now had to get rid of my car because it was not compliant (even though at the time I bought it that was what we were being told was the environmentally sound thing to buy (diesel).  I am sure that my neighbours will be responsible, but I will not be able to also take the rubbish dumped by others as I have done in the past.

Ignore me I'm referring to the Wandsworth site. But this is bad if Richmond have not planned non motor access.Wandsworth: "You can come to the centre by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot. Janis, was the sign on the road?There is s separate pedestrian entrance.I try and have a look in the next couple of days - I hope it is not the case.

I made one last visit before ULEZ came into force and there was a sign up saying pedestrians were forbidden. Seemed a bit contrary in the light of the main aim of ULEZ which is to get people out of their cars altogether.

Somehow lost my first line.  You are very welcome Judy.  I hope you find a good new home for your bolster.  You can request and donate with trashnothing.com.  I don't think E-Bay does that any more.  That used to be really good for searching for missing pieces of dinner services etc.There is a really good upcycling charity in Shepherds Bush called Petit Miracles where they also run courses and teach people how to mend and upcycle small pieces of furniture and also sell.  We could do with many more of these places all over the country teaching skills.

you are thinking of giving away or selling or sharing.Olio is a good food sharing one.  Sometimes shops and restaurants have spare food at the end of the day.  Or maybe you bought too many tins of something you don't like...

For small items it is still accessible on foot or bicycle without appointment I believe.

and you'll start finding other uses and places for things you no longer want.And don't forget www.trashnothing.com.  It's an easy interface for Freecycle and Freegle. You just can't predict what other people are looking out for and want!

I fully realise that I can pay for WBC to come and collect and, actually, our bin men are incredibly cooperative.  However, since WBC do not seem to collect litter and I have been doing that in my area I will have to report rubbish dumped and add to WBC costs.

I have the same problem. Also, now the tip requires appointments to be made, that discourages one from going. Most people though will swap to compliant cars in time and resume their refuse visits. Meanwhile we will choke less on exhaust fumes. I'm all for it.

HalloJust a thought, but maybe get Wandsworth Council to come and collect the rubbish.  Will have to pay, or alternatively, see if the the recycling plant will also come and collect.  Just a thought.
