Public loos on PHS

Any ideas as to what we can do about public urination on PHS and adjoining alleys.. Church Square?

OK, so as regards "urination in broad daylight", there isn't any need for (additional) public toilets in PHS because there are already some in the shopping centre which any member (sic) of the public could acess. Some signage might help though. Night time may still be a problem, but to an extent, what the eye doesn't see, the heart grieves less about.

It does but technically I'm not sure they're public in the true sense of council ru ones as Putney Exchange is private property. In practice there isn't any restriction on using them if the shopping centre is open as far as I know.

Does not the Putney exchange, a substantial shopping centre, have toilets? If not, that is shocking, should have been a condition of their planning permission and should be made one now.

Public toilets are a mark of the level of civilisation of a town. Go and look at Jersey, for example. In Putney we must have peaked during the Victorian era. Putting the onus on McDonalds to provide this service is sad.

have put forward idea of reinstating gents loos on Putney Bridge as a walk through "pissoire" , a la french style, very basic, and easily hosed through, for visiting football supporters and all and sundry,  exiting nightclubs, bars and pubs, with exit on to embankment, entering down existing steps...there is also a need for equivalent under Putney Bridge adjacent to Putney Bridge  station, especially to cater for visiting football supporters , who arrive after a few beers after long train journey to see their club play away

Aren't the Gent's loos still in existence at the bridge? The gate has been closed for years and rubbish accumulates there. Those odd little glass squares still exist in the pavement which presumably were used to lighten the space. The facility maybe could be brought into use once again?

Unfortunately not having public loos on high streets discourages many shoppers.  I remember my great-niece telling me it was all right as she'd seen some - they were stacked in Mothercare!

Andy, removing things just because they are missed used results in a race to the bottom, if you excuse the expression!Toilets, benches - where does it end?

Ed We did have those automatic loos for  a while and having had the misfortune to enter  one that had spent needles in and someone had clearly urinated over the seat In bloody glad we no longer have them. Speedy exit and search for alternative required.The other point where would you place it. Close to the bridge ? Or top of the high street? Would that stop someone urinating in Werter road ? Somehow I doubt it.

Apart from the Exchange - Putney library is listed by WBC as being the other public toilet.I do not accept that we can't have public toilets because they may be misused. Lots of places have those single unisex automatic toilets.Same old story: Sell everything off, reduce investment and run everything on a shoestring!

If someone is prepared to pee up the wall on broad daylight I'd doubt very much they would use a public loo.Not sure if any Boroughs have public loos these days. Certainly not Merton or Hammersmith. Generally shut down due to misuse rather than expense.

Some pubs make it clear their loos are only for customers, although I believe Wetherspoons are happy for people to pop in and use theirs; anyway, one can always by a small drink if desperate? Not sure about McDonalds, haven't been in one for several decades, but I know many fast food cafes, coffee shops etc put key codes on their loos which you only get on a receipt when yo purchase something.

Not good to hear of people urinating on High Streets.However I can only imagine what kind of strange things would go on in public toilets off a High Street!! Drugs and all sorts no doubt! Can people not walk into a Mc Donald's or ask politely at a pub?

Having just watched an adult gent urinate on the wall outside Werter Road Sainsburys in broad daylight I'm beginning to think it is high time this Forum made a big issue of this once again. Apart from something in the Exchange, there are no other options for anyone caught short. I know the council is in the gun for having shut down public toilets, but surely there is a case for another campaign to get at least one loo put in place. The current situation is pretty digusting.

Don't know what the big tank in Monserrat Rd is, saw when we drove past yesterday. Where the parklet used to be. Looks a bit like a builders toilet.

Perhaps don't vote in councils who close public loos to save money?
