Amazon fresh

It's in Sheen/Richmond, but preps are going ahead for an Amazon fresh store on URR just east of Waitrose. No time-frame mentioned but work is being prepared behind large fence posters. This is part of Amazon policy of opening physical stores as distinct from online outlets. They are competitive pricewise and have a record of offering high quality fresh produce. Will be interesting to see how Waitrose responds to the challenge. Also potential customers will be tempted to use Waitrose's close-by carpark, and what will Waitrose do about that?

Amazon Fresh has also open opposite the big Sainsburys in Wandsworth. Apparently you log into the Amazon Fresh App as you enter, you scan the items you want and it bills you on your way out.

Sadly Wholefoods has deteriorated since the takeover. Nowhere near as good as it once was.

I have used Amazon Fresh online multiple times and it's always been a very good and smooth experience. I would imagine its shops will operate very efficiently too.

Now open.Lots of friendly staff. Very clean and crisp feel.A fair range of goods including some hot. Amazon are teamed up with Morrisons  - so many look similar.Morrisons took over Safeway - who used to be next door to Waitrose :)They have a small selection of wine, beer etc about the same size of other local supermarkets.Prices similar to Tesco local IMO.Interesting experience.

The shop is right next to SuperDrug.The shop front is finished.You can't see through the window so no idea about inside.Tesco apparently have teamed up with Gorillas according to the news - perhaps it will improve their wine range :)

Hi Alex, sorry I thought you meant close to the Waitrose on the URR East Putney. Just seen you refer to Sheen which you’re correct.

Nick (again): I have just been to the spot in East Sheen and there is a clear promise, in notices on the fence line, of an Amazon fresh, complete with electronic checkouts. I have always relied on your info on business matters, but what you say doesn't seem to be the case.

Doesn't Amazon still own Whole Foods Market? The nearest one I know of is in Fulham Broadway.

Someone is suggesting the Amazon fresh store will just be a depot for online purchases and local deliveries. We may hear more soon.
