Well Boris would say that in public wouldn't he.  Behind closed doors it's probably something quite different. He could be just as fed up with her carping as many others are.  Me included.

Personally I feel safer with"sleepy Joe" even if he does have the odd senior moment. It seems some of the US military had concerns about Trump's mental instability to the extent they liaised with Chinese counterparts.I'd say all of my US friends would rather Trump were in prison come the next US Presidential election whether that be for tax fraud, trying to subvert an election, inviting a mob to storm the Capitol, ... https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-georgia-investigation_n_6154cee4e4b008640eafab33

It's the very fact that she speaks out and what she says is backed by the science. So, if you can't argue against the facts, attack the individual (or, if you're the French government, sink the Greenpeace ship - although that's an extreme example ). Plus there's an element of misogyny, prejudice against those with autism, vested interests of the establishment, etc.

Interesting to read in your link Philippa that these hoaxes about Greta have been debunked many times. Plainly, from reading this article, they are nonsense. But why do people still pick up this nonsense and spout it themselves? What makes a female child (though she recently turned 18) with Aspergers who stands up for a worthy cause such an attractive target?

You may think Trump spouted rubbish but 60 million Americans disagreed with you and he still has an enormous following. US politics is very boring now with Biden who's not exactly cogent is he? The old guy often cannot remember who or what he's talking about. 🙄I miss Trump and hope he runs for President again in 2024.

Perhaps, but not many political leaders write their own speeches, and normally when the ad lib, like Trump often did, they spout rubbish :-)

GT is just a mouthpiece for her parents and she spouts words written by them.  She's good for a laugh though. Her petulance and her death stare at Trump was hilarious.😂

I've heard very little reporting of this - presumably because of the criticism and the fact that she is right.It's interesting to refer back to others of her speeches to see why she is so frustrated with the lack of action.

Having spent time this summer in France and Germany l’ve noticed a clear drive with buy French products which if were carried here would have wails of “littlie Englander” claims.  There are fuel shortages and also no HGV drivers but that doesn’t stop water sports, gas guzzling boats and cars in both countries.  There’s panic about the number of migrants reaching Lampedusa and the French government have been called impotent .  So maybe not so bad in the Uk after all.

Sue,However much you dislike Greta, I am afraid to say she is correct in many of her interventions.  The blah, blah, blah one is very correct, because many leaders have been giving lip service to global warming and doing nothing about it.It is not what she says, the latest fires, floods, etc have shown that she is right - however much you dislike this, young Greta is correct.

Actually I think she is spot on!..when she says: "Judge leaders by actions not their words"If you agree on climate change or not it seems good advice. Check their voting records - look what they voted for or against.
