Re: Squirrels. for years I have given them a slice of bread, I throw a whole slice out, they pick it up and read it like a newspaper. I expect they are all hungry. Feed them and they go away, or think you are their dad or mum.  All animals are hungry don't be so mean a slice of bread isn't that much to ask. Love ANIMALS.

But when you see them standing up right at your back door looking, you feed the squirrel and it takes it out of your hand, how lovely is that. Also I put more clean water in the bird bath as it had been a bit warm yesterday, so about 4 they all came down splashing about. They flew over my head spraying me with water. What more could you ask for.

Feeding sliced bread to wild animals is abuse. It is not suitable food. Not that it matters much for grey squirrels, which are unwelcome vermin.

Just to be clear, this nut loves squirrels too. We have a squirrel which parades most mornings between 8 and 9 and lingers until has had a ration of six peanuts.

I love squirrels and would  happily feed them if I was lucky enough to get them in my garden.  And I am not nuts ...
