smart meter

my brother's energy supplier has gone bust, on checking his smart meter he found that the screen is now blank, coincidence or related to the supplier going under? thx.

Adam, I don't know the answer (although it seems odd as presumably they still need to record usage until another supplier is assigned, or is part of the meter still working?) but I notice two suppliers have today announced they are ceasing to bre suppliers and a third has stopped selling and is looking to restructure. Prepare for a hike in energy prices :-(

I think from a neighbour who had that problem. If you had a smart meter with EDF, then you changed to another supplier, that smart meter then was no good, in other words it belonged to EDF. So the new company is then meant to give you a meter. If your friends company has gone bust perhaps he has to wait for them to send him some sort of bill, for what he has used so far.
