Congratulations Emma Raducanu

What a lovely young lady she is and what an incredible achievement at such young age.  I was watching her being interviewed after winning the US Open and her confidence is amazing!I looked her up on Wikipedia in order to enquire the origin of her surname - and to see how it is pronounced properly.  My goodness, she is a mini UN personified!  Born in Toronto, Canada, from a Chinese mother and a Romanian father.  They moved to the UK when she was 2.  She holds British and Canadian citizenship, speaks Mandarin, watches Taiwanese TV shows and loves Romanian food (thanks to her Budapest-based grandmother).  Chapeau Emma!

Shows anyone is capable of great achievements regardless of their parentage, if only they are given the opportunities. Apparently we don't want Romanians coming to live here - but this one slipped through the net to become a great source of national pride. Time to send talent scounts to Yarls Wood I think.
