Putney traffic today

Anyone know why the traffic is particularly bad over Putney Bridge today with Putney Bridge road and lower Richmond road massively backed up.  I trust it has nothing to do with the bridge falling down per the other thread !

I do not know at what time the football match was on.  But police tend to close roads about 3 hours before?But, I do not know what the cause of the traffic was.  Roadworks?  An accident?  But Putney has been suffering very badly indeed of highly congested and at a stand still traffic. And nobody knows why!!!

The traffic problems were in the middle of the day.  Chelsea didn't kick off until 5.30pm.Traffic has been particularly hideous today.  I had to drive to the High Street and it took me 1/2 hour just to get from the Fox on the URR to Norroy Road!  Never seen it so bad.I knew I should have cycled!

There was a posting on Nextdoor enquiring why the 85 take so long!  Went to the website and, under updates, they said it was due to roadworks (do not know where) the buses from Kingston were stopping at the Green Man, with very few going to Putney Bridge.Football match at Stamford Bridge??  Perhaps, as police close the road hours before a match starts.

Yes it took us ages to get down the High St, Lower Richmond Rd, all the way to Sainsbury's Richmond. The traffic coming into Putney was dreadful. Didn't see loads walking down the High Street as if going to football.
