Much information about these particular migrants (the ones crossing to the UK in dinghies) can be obtained here:https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/qa-migrants-crossing-the-english-channel-in-small-boats/I note that 51% of them have come from Iran. So a key question regarding whether someone is a genuine refugee, is whether they would face persecution if returned to their home country. This is a little bit academic since Iran, with whom we do not have the most normal of diplomatic relationships, refuses to accept rejected asylum seekers from us.But putting that aside, what does anyone with half a brain think would be the fate of an Iranian who seeks political asylum in the UK, is rejected and then is returned to Iran. Would they then be persecuted? Hands up anyone who thinks they might know the answer...........
