Stag Brewery Site

The London Mayor has refused 1,250 homes at Mortlake’s 22-acre Stag Brewery site: Brilliant news, WBC take note and learn.

The smell has been there for a while before you came along. About 500yrs give or take a decade.

The site is not going to be turned into a country park is it? (Or a number of pubs).Affordable housing is more compact. I am not against it, but a revised scheme overcoming the Mayor's objections is going to have even more dwellings in it. All this is is a stay of execution. At least we no longer suffer that regular smell. More traffic from the site is inevitable though.

You already have flats coming back to White Hart Lane, opposite part of the Brewery that have been there years, also Chertsey Court. All the Pubs have gone, the Railway Tavern, The Napier, Old George years ago, then it was the Charlie Butler.

I am delighted that the scheme was refused permission.The proposed scheme was far too big and unnecessarily compressed.  A school for 1200 pupils, an 11-storey building to house 1000 flats???  ++++  It was not ambitious, it was too greedy. Trying to build a city within a city in the area they have available is beyond ridiculous.

I am pleased the scheme has been stopped, but I wonder what they will do with the site? At the junction where Clifford Avenue, Mortlake and Lower Richmond Rds meet, someone put up a protest sign against the scheme calling the junction “Chokers Corner”.

Yes Clifford, my cousin lives off Clifford Ave, I think a lot of people thought it would make the area really busy. Also Pets at Home, on Manor Lane that site they have been thinking of building flats. Also M & S site past Townmead Rd, dump.
