British success

Covid on the way out at last. The UK set to be the fastest growing economy this year. What more good news could we all want. Say what you like about Boris but he delivers. Results is what it's all about. All the rest is hot air. He won his war.

Perhaps we should not forget that austerity has apparently been ditched.The same government that had followed it for over 10 years which not only resulted in little growth but left us ill prepared for the pandemic!So Paul is the government right now but was wrong for the last ten plus years? Or the other way round?Same party same ministers same government!

thanks Mike, that's interesting to hear.I'm part inclined to agree with you on the over reach stuff. I feel fairly calm about students and the vaccine passport stuff but only for a very limited time frame. Once we're out of this it all has to go.As for this stuff about an app that you can log your food and drink and get rewards.... I confess i haven't seen anything formal about it but if it's true then that smacks very much of the situation in China where you can be denied access to services dependent on your behaviour.

Agreed Matt.To be more accurate though I think the way some of our GDP from the public sector is calculated compared to others exacerbated the apparent decline and therefore the subsequent rebound.  So in reality it was neither quite so bad nor now quite so good as it looks.I don’t think our “libertarian” prime minister is impressing many like me with his proposals that students can only attend lectures if double jabbed and holding out the use of Covid passports for other day to day activities in the UK.  Dystopian and massive state over reach.  I can only hope the Tory backlash or the governments usual lack of ability will stop it.  Also the sheer waste on projects like HS2 and his barmy idea for a bridge/ tunnel to Ireland when we are struggling under the worst debt of our lifetimes.  He’s been slipping on my report card a lot over the past 16 months.  Must improve!

"He won his war"Sad that so many had to pay the price with their lives for "his war"!He didn't fight the virus at the ports, he didn't fight the virus on the landing grounds.Like the opposition AWOL most of the time IMO. While the troops get a clap and 3%!
