World Cup Final 1966 In Colour!

Channel 4 will show England's 1966 World Cup final victory over West Germany ahead of Three Lions' Euro 2020 showdown today at 5.40! England supporters will be able to prepare for this Sunday's Euro 2020 final in perfect fashion by watching the Three Lions' greatest ever triumph at the 1966 World Cup in colour for the first time.The broadcaster claims this is the first ever screening of its type, and say that the original black and white footage has been 'restored and colourised' by production company Final Replay.https://mol.im/a/9770361

I saw some of this, and I have to say the ball looked much heavier than modern balls. They had to really boot it! Am I right?

Apparently the 35 mm colour film wasn't kept! So they've had to restore and colourise it:https://www.finalreplay.tv/full-colour-66/Even a non football follower like me is surprised they didn't keep the colour film!

Wasn't there a colour film of the match released in the cinemas in 1966?  I think the first colour TV here was in 1969.  It was of course England -v- West Germany even though we shorten it to just Germany!

This is a hoax. I saw the original game and it definitely took place in black and white.

I was at a Quiz Night and the question came up “Who was England’s Manager when they won the 1966 World Cup?”  Because I was sat at a table with younger people, no-one knew the answer but me.  I thought it was a bit sad really that nobody else knew it was Alf Ramsey.
