I'm afraid that I think that is totally wrong. Native species are suffering at the hands of imports.

A friend from Sheen went to Richmond Park, I think yesterday. What did she see 2 large Parrots, the coloured one's one sat on the top of her car. Also 2 in a tree in the park. She told the park ranger who said he thinks neighbours who live near Richmond Park let them out to have a fly round in the day time then they fly home the size of their beaks they were massive.

There was a lovely green woodpecker flying around outside the Telegraph the other day - a great sight! I also saw one on a dead tree in Richmond Park a few weeks ago and the way it pecks at the trunk is quite different to the drilling sound of the Great Spotted WP. Mostly they are ground feeders but this one had found something of interest on the tree and was steadily pecking away to get to it.

There was one on the other side of the railway line from my house a couple of weeks ago. I have gone round with my binoculars several times but not seen it again.
