I think the issue of pollution and congestion is incredibly complex.Particularly as a result of lockdown, home deliveries have increased dramatically and I doubt those vehicles are electric vehicles.  It is difficult to see how these deliveries will now decline dramatically, at least not in the short term. You also have the "problem" with Uber cars.  From memory, some 50,000 Uber cars have been given a licence to drive in London.  That is an astronomical amount of cars. Not all buses in London are electric.  In the Putney Heath area, 2 out of 5 lines of buses are electric....What I am trying to say is that it is not private vehicles the main or only problem in London.  So many delivery vehicles as well as buses continue to run on diesel. It may sound ridiculous, but the ULEZ zone sounds almost like the prohibition in the US.  Tackle the end product and not the cause. And the cause is not necessarily privately-owned vehicles running on fossil fuels. Does anybody know or have up-to-date statistics as to the number of vehicles in London, broken to by different categories (private cars (local and from outside London)), buses, delivery vans, delivery lorries, rubbish collection lorries, delivery cars, black cabs, Uber cars, cement mixer lorries, etc). Traffic management is another incredibly important issue that must be taken into account. It is a highly contentious issue, I agree.  But there is no point in arguing about this until we have true statistics.  And yes, climate change is frightening, but is it down to privately-owned cars only?
