Went to a Peugeot dealership looking for vans today, they had one electric car small £37000. They didn't have any others the salesman said his colleague drives to Crawley, each day and back if he doesn't charge his car every other day he can't get into work. The charging point at the dealership doesn't always work. He advised not buying electric their not making enough of them as people are not buying them. For a new vehicle they only make them when an order is put in or for a display model for the Dealership. As for a van he just said get one about 2yrs old as long as a Euro 6.

The supermarkets have warehouses that they can cover with photovoltaic cells to generate their own electricity.  They can also plan their distribution in areas around them.  Whereas at one time we only saw a few EVs there are now many around with companies owning whole fleets. I agree they are also bound to continue to develop and improve.

Given the amount of money being invested in manufacturing them, building supporting power distribution infrastructure and renewable power generation facilities plus government policy I suspect EVs are here to stay. However, I'm sure they will develop and improve rapidly over the next few years. .. it must be the end of the road for ICE powered cars over the next 10-20 years?

If that is referring to me Jane, we were just putting out feelers. Not buying Peugeot, probably Ford, or Vauxhall, but Vauxhall have to many problems with injectors. So unless you are an authority on vehicles it's not much point joining in. So unless you can tell me a vehicle that they won't make you change again in 5yrs or that is so reliable, your flogging a dead horse.

Wouldn't buy electric. My son was an electronics engineer he said there a joke. Then after a few years they will tell everybody to get rid of them.

Looks like Amazon are going for electric vans. I thought motor dealers always quoted one a high list price so you could negotiate them down and believe you've got a "good deal"? Anyway,  I think the motor trade sales model is changing. I believe the manufacturers want to sell direct via online channels to consumers to give them more control over their products. I think the dealers will then be used as just show rooms for display and demonstrations - I assume they'll pick up some type of commission from manufacturers for their trouble.

Don't need to look wasn't after a car we had been looking for a van. The car had the price on it. Matt you don't drive, why are you bothered. Who wants to burst into flames if you have an accident in an EV.

Matt I worked at Peugeot for 10yrs in Putney, I used to order all the New Vehicles and tax them. Also HPI all incoming vehicles, also work out all the invoices, with a part exchange incoming vehicle, warranties with IPT tax, etc, etc. Sorry to disappoint you Matt.
