Interesting Baftas tonight

The audience distancing felt a little strange and flat but I applaud all the winners. I fear due to circumstance the diversity of winners may feel a little fashionable but I have no doubt they were all well deserved. On another note...I'm not a royalist but I'm not a hater either so congrats to H&M for the new addition to their family of baby Lilibet.

I wondered whether those of us posting on this are showing our age. I suspect many of us were born in the '50s, '60s (or even '40s?) when most of us were given "Christian" names approved by a Church, even if our parents weren't particularly religious. That changed in the late '60s, the '70s and onwards with pop stars giving names from sources other than the churches, and multiculturalism with names from other religions and non European cultures. So perhaps naming their baby Lilibet seems quite ordinary to Megan and Harry, and people of generations similar to theirs as it was meant affectionately towards Harry's grandmother? Anyway, it's their business and sounds like the child will be called Lili which sounds quite normal to me even given my age 🙂 (Apologies if any posters are from the '70s onwards …)Didn't see the BAFTAs as  I'm not that interested so can't comment.

I have no idea how the Queen feels about it but I suspect she would be happier if they had honoured her by calling the child Elizabeth

The thing Sue is that the comments are not necessarily nice, or as Maxine said, they are rather venomous.  Call the baby Queenie?As I said, I do not particularly like the name but that is as much as I will say, here or anywhere else.Whether there are comments on social media or the national newspapers on this, it is neither her nor there.That they made a mistake with the Oprah interview, I agree.  But that is as far as it goes.  Do they court media?  Yes they do.  Do you need to follow it? No, you do not.If you wish to make a comment, by all means do.  But civility would not go amiss.

Yes Sue, it's on Facebook all the time about them. Even if the Queen did make out she was happy for them, I wonder what she muttered under her breath. Lilibet, the minute they said that, I said that's the Queens name.

Let them be? What do you mean by that? People are commenting on their choice of name that's all. Here's a thought...perhaps H&M should let us be?  They debunked to America to seek privacy but have continually courted the media and haven't shut up ever since!

I do not understand all this hullaballoo about the baby's name.  I suppose it is because they are Harry and Meghan.....It surprised me that they chose Lilibet but it is their choice. I would not have chosen that name, but I am I and they are they.Just let them be!

Well I suppose they could have called it Oprah🙀but that wouldn't be as commercially valuable to them as the name Lilibet which maintains the Royal connection. This would be especially important if the Queen ever revokes their HRH titles.  Diana was an inevitable choice, as it was for Princess Charlotte. Cannot comment on the BAFTAs because I don't watch all that luvvie crap.

I've not seen much on FB about it other than announcements about it on US news feeds - perhaps they should revert to being a colony and swap back to our Royal Family as Head of State - they could still keep Biden as their prime minister? Well actually Maxine, I think nearly everybody on Facebook thinks the same. After all H&M have had to say about the Royal Family, would dispute who is venomous.

Can't understand why H&M have named their baby girl Lilibet, that was the Queens special name given to her. Why not just call the baby Queenie and be done with it and go back to their cuckoo life.
