Dryburgh/ Erpingham/ Egliston & Clarendon Drive Rat Run

I have lived on Dryburgh Rd for 5 Years. In that time I have noticed how all the above Streets have suffered higher volumes of “ Rat-runners”!I have never understood why Dryburgh is closed only Am?Why not 16.00 - 19.00 also?  I’m a Driver, so not Anti Car Lobby, just thought it would make sense.

A lot of people live on Upper Richmond Rd you know. It's "residential".Maybe you should apply your Heathrow Airport logic to these roads. When people moved in there, they knew that they were roads and that vehicles drove down them. They should not complain about it now

The many motorcycles that whizz through the barriers seems to indicate that the blockade only rely applies to cars.The no entry sign on URR / Dryburgh Road doesn't have an except cyclists sign. So that would also be illegally for cyclists to cut through. (The whole signage looks dodgy to me - let's not working, can't see it in bright sunlight, no rigt/left turns too far from the Turing).But coming back to Simon's point and the one I made: What is the purpose of it? And does it still hold up to the norm of 20mph and EV?

Not  just  Dryburgh but the whole SW151 Residential AreaIe Egliston to PHS & Clarendon to LRR!

Yes, I've lived in SW15 for around 40 years.I understand the logic of your "whinge" but you don't attempt to answer my question: What's so important about Dryburgh RdAnd Mr Winstanley's 4/6 post which read: "It's a road....."

Simon, Do you remember Years ago  when they closed Access to PHS, by Blocking Felsham & Lacy Rds?They also put in the Am closure of Dryburgh at that time as well cutting off the Lower Putney shortcuts going towards the Bridge. So it would seem illogical that the Pm returning Traffic should be allowed thru the same Residential  area! That’s my whinge!!

My EV is silent, have to hoot cyclists/pedestrians. Hoot very loud...nearly gives heart attacts.On topic. Why is Dryburgh Rd a no entry? What's so special about it? Why not make Roehampton Lane a no entry 8-9:30...2 schools and a university there.

Once we pretent everywhere is 20mph any most cars are electric will there still be justification for side roads being blocked?I assume we will then have to pretend that side roads are 10mph!

Barbara The increase in car traffic is everywhere not just even London and was expected when people went back to work.  It is referred to as a "car-led recovery" and it something that Govt was not looking forward to.  It is one of the reasons that there has been a push towards active travel - cycling and walking - as this helps free up the streets.

Philippa and Michael, Vic is on about a road that has had a barrier for years across in the morning. What he wanted to know was why only morning not other times. Philippa put this information on the site where you live, because you obviously don't have a clue about this area.

An increased number of cars on the road because not as many people have returned to using public transport, together with a much increased number of delivery vehicles with so many people working from home.

It's a road.People drive down it. When you drive down my road,are you a ratrunner? Maybe if we all closed our own roads to each other, this would work?

Vic, could be possibly because of the schools further down the road, also to stop them cutting down Dryburgh to get over the bridge,

I was reading recently how big offices have reduced the number of online deliveries by making an effort to order centrally instead of floor by floor.  Do you remember when companies like John Lewis had particular delivery days for different areas?  Do they still I wonder?  Do we really all need everything next day delivery?  We are losing our high street shops and the pleasure of really checking our purchases out before buying when we only opt for online as well as encouraging more traffic on the streets. Cheap and fast is costing us elsewhere.
