Rail services to come under unified state control

Seems a sensible move to me.Why did it take so long? The system had been failing for decades.Not sure what national Labour policy is, possibly confidential:) They were in favour of it 2015-2020, but with no policies is it another example of being clueless? It's a step in the right direction Ivonne.We shall wait cautiously as they say.With the drop in commuters I suspect the whole pricing model will have to be rethought! It will probably mean less passenger trains and more freight.

Sadly, although there will be some kind of overall authority, the actual services will still be contracted to private firms. So this adds up to a great deal less than has been presented.

We all now what a disaster the fragmentation of everything is.  We now see it every day with workers who turn up but have not received or read the info about what they are turning up to do so haven't a clue - so they are then looking for someone to show them and tell them everything - all over again - when they may not be on site.
