Ed. I'm not advocating Photo ID, I suppose I'm ambivalent regarding it. It's interesting that I needed photo ID to collect a replacement postal vote from Wandsworth Council plus one needs photo ID to open a bank account, engage a solicitor for property transactions, to start (most) jobs, get into the BT Tower and Gherkin, etc. (Sometimes I've been asked for two forms of photo ID in banks.) It does raise the question of whether it's an infringement of someone's rights to remove a driving licence without replacing it with a "non driving" driving licences, which I believe one can have in the US?I think if one had to carry ID by law (as in France) it could be seen as reasonable, bringing it in without providing a free ID option (at least for people on benefits, pensions, etc) is just voter suppression
