Putney Pier Fish & Chips

We have been long time Customers, but last Night collected Our Cod & Chips. What a disappointment! The Fish was thin & Greasy & NOT Flaky which Cod should be, YUK!Anyone else agree or just a one off??

we have ordered from Parsons Green fish and chips a few times and times and it's been really good. they are on Just Eat

Putney Pier is very hit & miss whoever is in charge doesn’t seem to care very much always on phones and not particularly friendly stopped going after very soggy fish and tasteless chip agree Fishers is the best but bit more difficult to get to

Fisher's get another vote from me, friendly service and delicious food always. Had a few bad experiences with Putney Pier, a shame as it's the closest one to me but the staff are often rude and short mannered, and the fish has been very greasy lately along with soft chips.

We second Fishers. Well worth venturing across the bridge for it. The last time we used Putney Pier we didn't like the fish either. But that was a few years ago, before we discovered Fishers

Blame the breweries. Tennant landlords don’t set the prices and free houses don’t get favourable deals. Then you’ve got the exorbitant rents and rates.

That's what my other half says, how can they charge all those prices. That's why we if we now go out would be for a meal and drink at the Rocket.

On the subject of pubs. Whilst I appreciate they have rents, staff costs, purchasing blah blah blah. How can a pint be £6ish quid? OK perhaps I'll buy 1 or 2 but it's not gonna be a 7 or 8 pint session.

Simon, Watermans Arms. Been really packed opposite where you lean looking at the river. The coach and Horses looks really dark, have they a canopy over the whole space at the side.

Yes the one by the Bulls Head (but I think the pub goes by another name now).Expensive? Maybe but me and Mrs K can have a pig out for circa £20. By contrast a pint and large glass wine costs around £14 in the Coach and Horses opposite.

We have had the Fish and Chips Barnes, if the one by the Bulls Head. At the time it was rather expensive, so then went Lower Richmond Rd. There are some in Sheen , Upper Richmond, Rd.

I think Putneyites would get a nose bleed if they ventured into Barnes: They would find the currency confusing, struggle with the language and as for the time difference...:)

I also love Tanya’s in Barnes.  Huge portions and beautifully cooked.  Consistently good.  IMO best chippy in our part of the world!

Ed, if it's the one I'm thinking of the one on Putney Bridge Road closed down. Shame as it was a brilliant fish and chip shop and the eat in area wasn't too bad.

Always good.Battered sausage as a starter followed by haddock and chips, cuppa and 2 slices of bread (just to ensure I remain rotund).

@LucilleAgree Fishers is the best but cannot go there now so interested to know that delivery is available because I cannot see that option on their website. Do you use Deliveroo or does the restaurant use someone else? Mtia.

Has anyone tried the new one I think it is on Puney Bridge Road? It got some good reviews on the other site.

Fishers in Fulham High Street is the  absolute best locally. We have ours delivered and the portions are  very generous and beautifully cooked.

We usually go to the one in Lower Richmond Road, that's usually OK. Past the petrol station on the other side of the road.
