MattIs it true XR tried to blockade the canal but kept sinking every time they blocked the traffic?

Shipping emissions are a huge problem and badly underreported not to mention largely unpoliced. Southampton realised they had an air quality problem several years ago and it turned out to be all those giant cruise ships. These emit NO2 and CO2 with high sulphur content even when in harbour but the council managed to force them to switch their main engines off and clean up their auxiliary generators. Greenwich are working on keeping the largest ships away but at least they saw the problem coming.

Indeed. The article suggests that this may not be an accident caused mainly by high winds, so much as the result of very small crews on very large ships being worked too hard and lacking enough sleep. Still, we have a right to cheap plastic and digital whatevers.
