Hard to blame them sadly. Per front page hardly anyone using the branch, doubtless due in large part to lockdown for the past year but also the inevitable march of online banking and call centres. I don’t think they’ll be the last, and yes sad to see go, if only new occupants were queuing up. They have had their net interest income margins destroyed by years of super low interest rates/ more competition, and are increasingly restricted on fees they can charge from what I understand on overdrafts etc. A branch network is expensive to run (rent, rates, staff costs) and without much money coming in I think we will likely see more banks leave the high street
