Rcycling sacks

I know with everything else that's going it's a fairly trivial matter but is anyone else having problems with the recycling sacks delivery? I've filled in the form on the council web-site (3 times) and followed up with several emails without any success. I know you used to be able to pick them up from the Town Hall but I assume it's currently closed to the public.

Yes it was:-"Steffi SuttersDate/Time: 23/05/19 13:46:00You should all receive two deliveries of sacks per year if you are in low rise property.  High rise that have communal recycling do not in the main get sacks delivered.  Yes, there was widespread abuse and the library service did not administer the system.  They merely put them out in a box for people to take.  As I have said before, if you need more than the number delivered regularly and have trouble with ordering on line, please get in touch with me.  My understanding on the quality of the sacks is that it is comparable but the material is different.  The new packs are made to go through letter boxes rather than be left on pathways. I trust that helps."

For those of us who live on upper-floor flats / High Street itself, we do not have recycling bins available.  So the only way we can deposit things for recycling are to use the Council-marked recycling-only plastic bags (which are recyclable.) Ideally, the council should locate some shared recycling bins just off the High Street, but then I think the local residents would complain.  The council are rubbish at fulfilling recycling orders, and they use a completely outdated address list for placing orders. The only way is to pick them up from the council office.

What worked for me, after several fruitless emails to request a fresh supply, was to complete an online Complaint form.  The recycling bags arrived promptly.

Same in my corner of West Putney.  I had this problem last summer so having cadged a roll off a neighbour I asked a binman as I cycled past the lorry on the school run.  He happily gave me a pack of rolls.  I returned home to find my lovely neighbours had got more for me from our own binmen!  I am sure they usually have a few on the lorry if you ask.

Here (East Putney) recycling in the council sacks goes in the recycling section of the bin lorry.  Everything else in the rubbish section.  Our rubbish collection team will always supply more - though I think we may be extra lucky with them, always cheery and friendly.

So as the recycling sacks are not being recycled, I should not use them? As far as I know recycling is only picked up in the council sacks in my street. If I use anything else to contain the recycling it will be put in with the waste.

David - I'm sure lots of things are recyclable but that doesn't mean they get recycled.Then there is the energy to produce the bag so you can throw it away.I remember when the bags were first introduced, but that was years ago - we should have moved on. David linking with the other thread: surely using single use plastic bags will just add to other supply failures?If it is not ok to put your shopping in at the supermarket, why is it OK to use for your recycling?

Recycling sacks supply failures seem to be a hardy perennial on this site. Still the reasons for failure may vary over time to keep the topic interesting.

David some places use recycling bins other have the large rectangular recycling bids scattered around.Seems odd to use single use bags for recycling!

We ordered bags that never arrived, so next time the collection men arrived we cadged a roll of them: no problem.

Straight into a bin for  cardboard would be useful. We break down large cardboard boxes and hold together with a piece of string or a small but of tap but if not in a bag they often don't take it, seems silly.

We get through a lot of bags. At least three a week, so we really need them. Filled in the forms at least three times. Useless. Had to borrow a roll from a neighbour.
