The Carlton Tavern, Maida Vale
Sorry this isn’t Putney, but a really good story in the news. The Carlton Tavern pub in Maida Vale that was illegally demolished by the owners/developers in 2015 reopens next month, after Westminster Council made the owners rebuild it brick by brick, as it was before.
The Carlton Tavern, built in 1920, was the only building in the street to survive the Blitz.
I was really pleased when I heard about this and the campaigners who fought for its rebuilding should be proud.
