There was no resident consultation on the parklet installation on Montserrat, it just turned up out of the blue.Whilst it does provide civic space at certain times of day, other times it is exclusively used by deliveroo bikers. There are far too many of them. They daily spill on to residents parking areas, and standing around, blocking the pathway adjacent to Metro Bank. In large numbers, and crash helmets, they can be intimidating to lone women. The Copenhagen crossing is used as a deliveroo motorbike park, again at peak times. Felsham Road parklet exclusively used by deliveroo bikers all day and night and is not civic space.Too many motorbikes on Weiss Rd. Full stop. Positively Putney put them there, but they are not monitored by them, or police, and wardens seem helpless. The Montserrat Road parklet is supposed to be relocated since the decision was made last November, but is still there. The anti social behaviour associated with this parklet is well documented, but appears ignored by both PP and Conservative Thamesfield counsellors, leaving residents in limbo.PP and LBW seem to lurch from one crazy plan to another, leaving residents furious, anxious, and very p*ssed off with the whole situation. A plan was mooted  to move the Montserrat Road parklet to Lacy Road, outside the old Waitrose entrance there that is now blocked off, and to be a complement to Gail's and Guillano. This seems to me a good idea for outdoor dining.which PP seem fixated on. My view is all deliveroo motorbikes might as well be allocated Felsham Copenhagen crossing and parklet as official, provide  bikers with portaloos and regulate their numbers.Regarding Positively Putney, and LBW, they seem to be just making things up as they go along.. If residents of Werter want a through road, it should be up to them. No doubt they too, will have a lot of motorbikes there, whether it is blocked off, or not.

Hello Richard,I have no clue as to who originated the idea, but suggesting that Werter Road becomes a two-way street from Oxford Road to Sainsbury's car park is certainly not a brilliant idea. The proposal has everything to do with pollution.  That was mentioned by the lady introducing the petition to us and the leaflet states:" .....The area has the potential to become a focal point for the town centre, a feature that is so lacking at present.  Away from noise and pollution of the High Street, the area could be:- landscaped with trees and planters - a place to sit, relax and meet friends; and- include a café, market stalls and other events to attract more visitors and help reverse the town centre's economic decline."  .....Hmmmmm.  Too small an area to achieve the ideals above? It is rather ambitious, particularly including market stalls, a café...The saying is perhaps a family saying and not an official one.  I made a mistake as it should read "it's like having a boiling kettle and not allowed to make a cup of tea".  As for turning my post round, you ask the question about how traffic on the roads should be tackled.  Many moons ago I suggested on this forum that a park-and-drive on the A3 would not be a bad idea to reduce traffic. I also mentioned on this forum not long ago that a study (from DfT I think) showed that 60% of the traffic in London is from outside London.  It is quite a statistic! And I do mind about global warming very much indeed.  But I do object to ideas like closing part of Werter Road under the pretext of reducing pollution on the High Street or, as you say, a solution to global warming. Also, global warming is not the result of high car usage only.  There are very many reasons for global warming which include high car usage I agree, but it is not the only cause.  Motoring is, however, an easy target. "All I ever see from you is complaints about limiting it"  what a selective memory you have.

Hello Richard,Could you kindly let us know how the road is being used as a rat run in morning peak hours?  Because, many people may use the road but is it necessarily a rat run?  To reach a supermarket? On the same token, Disraeli Road is also used, but is it really a rat run?  Or is there preferential treatment to Werter Road and Disraeli Road disregarded?Returning to the subject of this thread, people do use Werter Road to reach Sainsbury's.  Horror!!! It is also true that a construction (of a windowless hotel?) is still going on (hence my original comment that the rat run on the leaflet was shown as a lorry collecting building construction rubble was heading towards this building site). In your previous post you said:"The outrage that there should be some small curb on motorists' right to drive wherever and whenever they want! The short sightedness of these campaigns, like the rabid opposition to LTNs, is astonishing in the face of the climate crisis, which even Wandsworth Council affects to believe in, although of course it does next to nothing about it."The outrage that there should be some small curb on motorists' right to drive wherever and whenever they want! Sounds very much like having a boiled kettle and not being able to have a cup of tea.You also protest against the "whingers" against the LTNs.  Then you whinge that nobody understands.  Have you by any chance experienced, first hand, a LTN.  No, no need to say it, you have not (you admitted this yourself before).  But you consider that emergency services being hampered from reaching the emergency situation they are going to is fine.  I wholeheartedly disagree with you. Also, you have never provided a suggestion as to how to curtail or redirect traffic coming from the end of the A3 and preventing it from using Putney Hill/Putney High Street and/or West Hill. So, returning (once again) to the subject of this thread, do you really think that by closing Werter Road in the junction with PHS is going to reduce pollution on PHS? I wait for your comments.
