Andy, the government does everything it can to pin the blame for stuff on the EU. Yet in this instance not a mention of it from them. If it was the EU's fault we'd have ministers on TV 24*7 banging on about it.

"However, there is confusion over the source of the delay with a Government source blaming a range of 'production issues'.The source revealed that this included the need to re-test a large batch of the vaccine, although they did not specify from which manufacturer.  They also suggested there was an issue with AstraZeneca's production overseas, resulting in fewer jabs being delivered in April than initially planned.This was backed up by another government source that claimed the shortages were related to the late delivery of five million doses of the AstraZeneca jab being manufactured in India.  The Serum Institute was due to send 10 million doses to the UK - yet only half have arrived."So nothing to do with the EU then.

Very poor long term thinking also.  Pfizer chose Belgium as a major manufacturing site I believe for orders from outside the EU as well as inside.It will likely not look at doing so in the future, and foreign customers may even stipulate that for critical supplies.  Also likely other corporations will look to base more manufacturing outside the EU if they do progress an export embargo further.  Last thing any company would want would be political meddling in how they can fulfil customer contracts I would have thought!

Not this but the latest threats to stop exports . It all knocks on.What I dont understand is why they are thinking of blocking exports of a product they have undermined so badly their people wont take it.even if they say they should use it after tomorrow they have to convince their own people.

Cant work out why the EU want to stop us having something they dont even want. Cant be green eyed monsters from this Auguste organisation surely.
