Michael W's post seems to be on target. I'm sure some didn't realise when they voted for Brexit that it would take ten or more years for any benefits (or further disadvantages) to be realised. Those making promises in 2016 can be fairly safe no one will hold them accountable in 2030 ... so much else will have changed by then (we might all be driving electric cars, eating vegan food, working over gigabit fibre internet, many older Brexiteers will have died, pigs might be flying, ...). And perhaps Mr W's spelling of sovereignty is not a mistake; firstly, he carefully put it in quotes, why? Secondly, we've still agreed to remain an ECHR signatory, we're maintaining NATO membership, we're great fans of the WTO, etc all of which have rules that curtail sovereignty to some extent?
